The Spirit of Springfield presented the first "Star Spangled Springfield" celebration in 1991, after a one-year absence of July 4th festivities and fireworks. The community was treated to military band concert and a magnficent fireworks display.
The event has been held the evening of July 4th, with the acception of 1999 when "Star Spangled Springfield" celebrated the new millennium with three evenings of performances.
