    Springfield has earned the reputation of being the City of Bright Nights.  During the holiday season there are more than 675,000 lights that create Bright Nights at Forest Park, the Northeast's premier holiday lighting experience.  There are even more lights in Downtown Springfield and on several businesses in Springfield.


    History


    Starting in 1996, funds were raised to illuminate public areas in Downtown Springfield to celebrate Bright Nights at Forest Park.  It began with Springfield's Municipal Group that was outlined in lights for one season.  


    Many businesses purchased displays for their buildings to enhance the displays on Main Street, in Court Square and on the Memorial Bridge.
